Ayurveda Marma therapy

If you are looking for complete relaxation, no more stress and overall well-being - this is the best gift you can give yourself.

What is Ayurveda and Marma therapy?

Ayurveda, literally translated as the “Science of Life”, is an over 5000 year old system of medicine that has its origin in India. It can be viewed as a combination of holistic medicine, philosophy and spirituality, bringing deep understanding of body, mind and soul. It teaches us how to live in harmony with ourselves, our environment and each other. One of the practical parts of Ayurveda is the hands-on art, called Marma Chikitsa or Marma Massage Therapy. Like in Acupuncture from TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), this is similar work on the many energetic points we all have throughout the body. Nearly 75 of the 117 principal marma points correspond exactly to the principal acupoints in Chinese medicine.

Marma Massage Therapy Treatment for Wellness in Genève

This type of Wellness massage therapy helps us to return to a balanced state on all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. People almost always experience a fast reduction of tension, liberation of pain and feelings of calm and relaxation. Receivers also often report that they sleep better and that their digestion improves. In general they feel much better after an Ayurvedic Marma Massage Therapy Treatment and leave with renewed energy and a peaceful mind. Contact with Marma points can significantly calm the mind and reduce stress through their ability to influence the nervous system, of which they are essentially a part. These energy points may also trigger the release of unexpressed or unresolved emotions. The stimulation of Marma points can be done in 10 different ways. One of the most commonly known is perhaps the Ayurvedic oil massage. A deep connective tissue dry massage or deep pressure without oil is a technique also used in Tui Na, part of Chinese medicine. Puncturing with a needle called Sūchi Bharana, is a similar technique as Acupuncture. The therapy or treatments at Surya Center are done without the use of needles but combine subtle energetic work with deep pressure and dry massage to stimulate the flow of energy, leading to an overall sense of well-being.
